How to Make a Macro in Word 2013. Related Book. Word 2013 For Dummies. On the View tab, choose Macros→Record Macro and give the macro a name in.
I like Macros as they save a lot of time. I have had run into problems with two particular Macros I have tried to create. First, I created a template and saved it as one of my templates. Then I created a Macro to fetch the template. Then I assigned that macro to a keystroke so I could pull up the template with a single keystroke. However, every time I use the keystroke, the template comes up as an unformatted blank page. I have tried multiple things, redone the macro multiple times, it just doesn't work.
It needs fixed. Secondly, I used WordPerfect for many years and converted many documents from WordPerfect to MS Word, before switching to Mac. I now use Word for Mac. However all the documents converted from Wordperfect are in.doc format and I need them to be in.docx format.
The reason is that finder will not search.doc formatted documents for words or phrases and I can't find material in my several thousand files that I need to find. So, like above, I created a macro to 'save as' to.docx and then close the document. I assigned the macro to a keystroke.
This way I could open multiple documents and then with a single keystroke save as to.docx and close the document. In fairly short order, 12 hours or so, I could get through my several thousand documents. However, the macro doesn't work. It saves and closes, but won't save as to.docx!!!
